Will Live in Infamy...? by Farasha SilverSand

Normally, I am not patriotic.

Normally, I'm about the farthest thing from patriotic I can be without being anarchist.

But there are some things that just rub my fur the wrong way, so to speak. There are some things that I just... I want to... I just... gah.

Like the local news thinking that it was more important to mention it was National Bubblegum Day or some such bullshit than that it was the anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

"This is a day that shall live in infamy," president Roosevelt said. I wonder how he would feel today, knowing that most schoolchildren are not taught the date of Pearl Harbor until the eighth grade, but Columbus day - well, we can't forget that.

Check your priorities, America.

Medium: Pencil, Photoshop 7.0
Tags: america pearl farasha harbor patriotic
Elli by Farasha SilverSand

Elli, the second anyix I ever created. She's an extremely powerful pyrokinetic, so much so that she can't control her power. When she gets upset or angry, it sets off what the anyix call a "firestorm," a mass of spontaneously generated fire and heat that makes things in the general area combust or explode, depending on their properties.

Elli is the strongest pyrokinetic since an anyix called Flame the Burning, who is a legend for setting half the pack-lands on fire. Thus, the rest of the pack-lands tend to avoid her, afraid to move the wrong way and upset her.

It doesn't help that she's emotionally unstable.

Lookit! Yay for Photoshop grass brushes and half-assed backgrounds! And fire! W00t for fire!

Medium: Photoshop 7.0
Tags: anyix talent elli pyrokinetic
Hyena: Art Trade by Farasha SilverSand

Hey, Shadowfeather, I totally fail at life for not posting this sooner since it's been on my computer forever liek woah.

This is the first hyena I've ever done, and I think it turned out alright if you ignore the fact that his face is supa-wonky.

Completely proud of the tattoo and the spots, and the shinies on the spear, but less than pleased with the fur, because I started to do shinies on it and it just turned out funky so I stopped.

Also, OMG background. Crappy background, but OMG background. :)

Medium: Photoshop 7.0
Tags: hyena trade shadowfeather
The Cheshire Cat by Farasha SilverSand

"But I don't want to be among mad people."
"Oh, you can't help that, Alice. We're all mad, here. I'm mad, you're mad..."

The Cheshire Cat has always been one of my absolute favorite characters in any type of fiction. He's so... creepy and mischevious. That's why, when I got older and I actually read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland instead of watching the Disney version of the film, I got more and more disatisfied with the way he was portrayed in the movie.

So I had to jazz him up a little, make him creepier.

This is one of my best pieces to date, in my opinion. I love him so much. I love the color scheme. I even love that crappy tree. :3

The background = fun with star-shaped brushes in Photoshop.

Medium: Photoshop 7.0
Tags: cat alice wonderland cheshire Lewis caroll
Nanko by Farasha SilverSand

"What is it?" Elli asked, nervous.
"I dunno, El. Somethin' about this don't smell right," Nanko said softly, trying to keep his voice from echoing in the cave.
"Are you having a vision?"
Nanko snorted. "Would I still be talkin' if I was? I ain't-"
"Now you are," Elli said, hushed but still a little smug.

Nanko is an anyix and he has a very rare supernatural Talent. He's a precognitive, which means he can see the future. When he has a vision, he's completely out of touch with the regular world; he can't see what's going on around him, he can't respond to any stimuli from the real world, and he sometimes gets caught in a particularly powerful vision, responding to its stimuli instead. This wouldn't really be a problem if he had a Balance to dampen his power, but he doesn't. That's a plot point in the story involving him, so I won't explain much further here.

Medium: Photoshop 7.0
Tags: nanko anyix precognitive talent
Creative Groove by Farasha SilverSand

If I ever decide to do something sparkly in a picture again, or mention that I'm doing something sparkly in a picture, slap me and take away my tablet, please. I just about killed myself doing all the little sparkly paint bits in this picture, and you can barely even see them in the resize. *cries*

This is pretty much Farasha's new character design. Since my style changed, I decided I would redo Farasha, too. After all, as I change, she does. She's me.

So. The hoop earrings and other jewelry are still there, except the arm cuff. I hated that thing, and it was a pain in the ass to draw, so it's gone. Her hair has gotten more... body to it. You can't see any of her spots in this pic (woe) but the markings haven't really changed either.

Medium: Photoshop 7.0
Tags: design creativity farasha groove
The next four pictures will all be of the elements; the last time I did a series like this was over three years ago and I have improved enourmously.

The perspective is off, and the dress would not fold or flow like that.
Dragon Dancer by Farasha SilverSand

This is old liek woah, but it'll take me a couple days of uploading to get up to the recent stuff.

There are so many things wrong with this picture, I really don't even know where to start. First of all, it's off-center. So the composition is wrong. Second of all, Fara's character design is awful in this picture. Third, the black dragon is too dark for any of the details to really be seen.

All in all, the only reason this is in the gallery is to show a progression from my older work to the newer stuff that will be uploaded in a few days.

Medium: Photoshop 7.0, WACOM tablet
Tags: spirit serval guides dragons farasha
Farasha: Water by Farasha SilverSand

Drawn around the same time as Fire Dancer, and the second in the series. When this series was done, I was still trying to get the hang of prismacolors, which is why there is little to no shading and the color buildup is not very good.

Medium: Prismacolors
Tags: water elements farasha
