"What is it?" Elli asked, nervous.
"I dunno, El. Somethin' about this don't smell right," Nanko said softly, trying to keep his voice from echoing in the cave.
"Are you having a vision?"
Nanko snorted. "Would I still be talkin' if I was? I ain't-"
"Now you are," Elli said, hushed but still a little smug.

Nanko is an anyix and he has a very rare supernatural Talent. He's a precognitive, which means he can see the future. When he has a vision, he's completely out of touch with the regular world; he can't see what's going on around him, he can't respond to any stimuli from the real world, and he sometimes gets caught in a particularly powerful vision, responding to its stimuli instead. This wouldn't really be a problem if he had a Balance to dampen his power, but he doesn't. That's a plot point in the story involving him, so I won't explain much further here.
